Accelerated Reader™ Program
The Power of Reading
ISC Lahore is proud to join thousands of people around the world in building a lifelong passion for reading. ISC Lahore proudly conducted a two-day launching of its Accelerated Reader™ (AR™) Program, the first of its kind in Pakistan. On December 2nd and 3rd, 2008, Mr. Mounir Geha, Director and Ms. Margo Abdelaziz, Deputy Director of ISC Lahore along with SLO® Prefects, Heads of Department, and teachers welcomed parents to the upper library hall for an official opening and orientation about the AR™ Program.
Parents of AR™ participants from grades KG2 – 6 were invited for the first day, and parents of students in grades 7 – 12 were invited for the second day. Enthusiastic crowd of parents turned up in big numbers on the 2nd of December; the upper library hall was full to its capacity. Understandably, the parents were very excited to learn about the nature and philosophy of the AR™ Program. An overall presentation of the program was given by the AQC and various SLO AR™ Prefects. Welcoming remarks by Mr. Carl Bistany, President, SABIS® Educational Services S.A.L., were shared and distributed to all attending.

Parent listened with interest and focus. Mr. Mounir Geha and Ms. Margo Abdelaziz then asked the parents and AR™ Student Prefects to join them in cutting the ribbon opening the way to the AR™ library area. The sight of new, stimulating books along with the latest computers brought smiles to everyone’s face. Parents were allowed to browse through books and offer suggestions and comments.
The second day was equally as exciting as the first. Again, the parents were given a warm welcome by the AR™ team. The purpose, the aim and the long-term goals of the AR™ program were re-emphasized. Plans for the AR™ Club and AR™ Special events were discussed. Parents were impressed by the display of the AR™ books and computer workstations for quizzes, and pledged their support and active participation in ensuring success for the program as well as the students taking part in it.
ISC Lahore is currently working on ordering another 1,500 new books along with twelve additional computers for the 2009-2010 academic year. We hope to have a complete enrollment of the entire student body in the next academic year.
For December 2008 ISC Lahore joined students worldwide in building the lifelong love of reading.
