Meeting with Mrs. Claudine Le Tourneur d’Ison:
Meeting with Mrs. Claudine Le Tourneur d’Ison:
The French Department of ISC-Lahore decided to invite the famous French writer and journalist Mrs. Le Tourneur d’Ison to ISC-Lahore so that the French language students could have the opportunity to interview her and to widen their exposure.
Here is a brief narration of this event by the students:
On Tuesday, February 21, 2012, we had a chance to meet the renowned French author and journalist Mrs. Claudine Le Tourneur d’Ison. She was visiting Pakistan to launch her new novel “Hira Mandi” inspired by the lives of Iqbal Hussain, the celebrated Pakistani artist, and the women of the walled city of Lahore. Beginning the interview with questions prepared by students, she dove deeper into her profound experience and perspective about the “Diamond Market’s Dancing Girls”.
Her visit to our school generated a lot of excitement and enthusiasm from students as well as teachers. When asked the similarities between the French and Pakistani cultures, she gave one of the most heart-warming answers of the evening. She related that while the media has been successful in portraying Pakistan in a negative light, she felt she had been welcomed bigheartedly by the people of Pakistan. And with a hint of emotion, she told us that humanity was the common denominator between both the cultures.
On a final note, we presented to her a bouquet of fresh roses and a token of gratitude from ISC-Lahore. We could not resist the pleasure of receiving an autograph from her as we were so impressed by her genuine persona. She seemed very pleased and she promised to visit the International School of Choueifat the next time she was in Pakistan, so that she could witness how we had progressed in French. It was a truly inspirational and delightful experience for the students of French and we look forward to the company of Mrs. Claudine Le Tourneur d’Ison.
On behalf of the French Club of ISC-Lahore, we would like to avail the opportunity to thank Madam Claudine Le Tourneur d’Ison for the amazing moment we shared with her.
