15 January 2010
Aitchison College held its annual French Soirée, a French Poetry Recital on Friday 15th January this year. Renowned schools and colleges, namely and in alphabetical order Aitchison College, the Alliance Française, Government College University, ISC Lahore, Kinnaird College, LGS Defence, LUMS, the Punjab University, and Scarsdale participated.

This event was very well organised as usual, from their security check-up to the scrumptious high tea at the end of the ceremony, with dances and plays portraying The Revolution, The Bad Grade, even a tribute to the famous French soccer player Zinedine Zidane.

Various poems were read – mostly from poets of the 19th and 20th Century – Rimbaud, Prévert, Baudelaire and the like. ISC Lahore, represented by Maryam RAHIM, 11L, was the only participant who had written her poem herself, titled ‘AHMAD’ which is about how the arrival of her three-year old brother has changed her life for the better. This very touching poem rewarded ISC the 1st runner up prize, followed by LUMS. Kinnaird College managed to win the 1st prize, whose poem was illustrated by a little dance.

In addition to the event being a good entertainment, it is a good opportunity for students as well as teachers to exchange and canalise positive ideas!

19 March 2009
'Soiree de la Langue Francaise' celebrating International French Language Week.
The Alliance Francaise of Lahore (as well as around the world) held a national competition in which 8 schools performed. The theme of the competition was futuristic and each school had 5 minutes to perform an original text using 10 of the words provided in the rules.
The schools performed a variety of acts including songs, skits, poems and slideshows. It was another wonderful night of French language and to see what everyone had prepared but ISC Lahore was the one that captivated the audience and had them laughing from the opening line of the play until the end. Zeina Geha, Neha Khurram, Imdad Rahim and Aliya Noshahi performed an original comedy called "The End of the World" and the energy on stage was much more present than in any of our previous rehearsals!
The director of the Alliance Francaise, Lahore graciously allowed me to recite a poem that I had written called “Complaint of a Young Girl from Earth” along with a slideshow but it was not to be judged due to the time constraints. The crowd was silent and reflective as I presented my feelings about the state that our world is in.
In the end, we won 1st prize for Most Creative School, 2nd prize for Best Performance and in the end, the Grand Prize of the Jury. We were ecstatic when we received the first trophy, and the feelings elevated even further with the second and third. We celebrated with our wonderful French teachers and our own teacher, Madame Edwige Catala, who all played an important role in our victory

The Return of the Champion:
On Friday, January 16, 2009, Grade 12 student of ISC Lahore, Aliya Noshahi, was awarded the First Prize in French Poetry Contest hosted by the Aitcheson College in Lahore.
Aliya charmed and amazed the full-house auditorium with the poem she authored, with her passionate interpretation, and an amazing French language ability. Aliya, and the International School of Choueifat-Lahore, came out the winners from among six prominent schools participating. It was a second year in a row for Aliya and the ISC Lahore to win the prestigious cup – a true return of an amazing Champion.
Aliya, and students of ISC Lahore, are superbly supported in their acquisition of French language by our talented teachers of the French Department headed by Dr. Catala Edwige.”
