2nd Annual French Inter-School Competition

ISC Lahore held its 2nd Annual French Inter-School competition on Saturday 20th February with a lot of zest and zeal as usual. This year, ISC participated among 8 other schools, namely Aitchison College, Alliance Française, Kinnaird College, Lahore American School, Lahore Grammar School/Gulberg, Scarsdale, The New School -TNS and Punjab University. Lots of ideas were presented on the stage: poems, fables, dances and even plays, varying from serious to scary, funny to hilarious. The show took off with our dazzling junior students portraying 2 of the seasons – Spring and Summer, accompanied by colorful PowerPoint presentations and costumes. ISC Lahore performed last being the host, and held no regrets participating since their hard work was rewarded when the Jury announced the results: Best performance, followed by the Alliance Française and LAS in 3rd position; Best creativity leading Scarsdale and Alliance Française in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. To top it all, ISC Lahore was crowned with the Grand Prize for their play: “The Haunted Mansion”, a comedy written and performed, with the help of the Head of the French Department, Dr. Catala, by students of grades 7 to 9. As a whole, the show was cleverly presented in both French and English for parents and others, no one missed a second of fun. There was a great ambiance during the delightful event, packed with colors, music, fantastic performances, from the welcoming of guests by students, some disguised as French historical figures featuring Napoleon, Charlemagne, Joan of Arc and many others, to the moment of Victory – Vive ISC Lahore! Bravo!

CHARITY DAYS AND SOS VISIT

In February 2010, the International School of Choueifat witnessed one of its kindest events ever, the "Charity Days". This initiative of collecting donations for the underprivileged children of Lahore was taken by the SLO™ Prefects who embarked on a journey of collecting items and funds which began on 2nd of February and ended on 12th of February. Charity days were concluded by a special visit to the "SOS Villages" on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Loaded with generous donations, the prefects arrived to the SOS Villages and were welcomed by the Director there, who explained the basic idea behind the SOS Villages and the different tasks being done by this foundation. To this, we the prefects, guided the Director regarding our School and the functions of the SABIS Student Life Organization®. After these discussions we were given a tour of the entire place when we had an opportunity to visit the houses of the orphanages, no matter how simple they are but we thank God for their existence which provides the orphans a safe home. Later came the moment we all were waiting for, the chance to interact with the children who had just arrived back from their school. They ranged from the ages of 1 year to 16 years, some were 2005 earthquake victims, while others had been left by their parents. No words describe the feelings we had, from the bottom of our hearts we showed love and care to these children, then started the different activities we had planned for them, which included races, games etc. After the games, time had arrived for us to leave. It was hard to say goodbye, but we are proud that we’re able to put a smile on their faces, and wish it will stay forever…….
